Cash + Cause: Why Commercial Films Can Still Carry Soul
Let’s get one thing straight —
A full-blown commercial film can still hit hard with meaning.
You don’t have to pick between box office and backbone.
Between mass and message.
Between whistles and wisdom.
The truth?
Audiences love entertainment. But they remember emotion.
They come for the highs.
They stay for the heart.
So go ahead. Make that racy, loud, blockbuster entertainer.
Add action. Add romance. Add punchlines.
But beneath the glitter, let there be a gut. A soul. A line they’ll take home.
Make movies that make money — and move people.
That’s real cinema.

The Art of Unburdening: Why I’m Choosing Minimalism Now
Three years ago, I started adding things to my life.
Projects. Possessions. People. Promises.
Some came from passion, others from pressure.
Most felt urgent. Very few felt essential.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped asking why.
Why this thing? Why this need? Why now?
I woke up one morning—mentally cluttered, emotionally taxed, spiritually bankrupt.
Not because life was unfair.
But because I had overbooked my soul.
And here’s the truth:
Every burden I carry today… was once my “yes.”
My own doing. My own distraction.
So now, I’m choosing to undo.
I’m learning to shed, not search.
To subtract, not stack.
Minimalism isn’t about having less stuff.
It’s about having fewer regrets.
It’s about keeping only what holds value—and saying a kind, clear NO to what doesn’t.
So here’s what I’m practicing:
-
If it doesn’t align with peace, it’s not for me.
-
If it doesn’t deepen purpose, I pass.
-
If it feels heavy in my chest, it’s not worth the space in my day.
I’m not running away. I’m returning.
To stillness.
To clarity.
To me.
This is not a season of addition.
This is a season of becoming light again.
If you’re reading this and feeling the same — you’re not alone.
Minimalism isn’t a style. It’s a soul choice.
Let’s travel lighter.
Together.

Don’t Quit Films. Quit Doubting Yourself.
It’s not the films that break us.
It’s our limited thinking around them.
For a long time, I believed I had to do one or two more
films and then walk away.
Say goodbye to the madness.
To the magic.
To the pain.
To the poetry.
But here’s the truth that hit me like lightning:
The pain isn’t in making or quitting films.
The pain is in thinking we have to quit.
When I killed that thought — that I need to exit this
world for peace or survival — I felt a wild new freedom.
When I said goodbye not to films, but to the idea of leaving films — everything
opened up.
Suddenly, the game changed.
The energy shifted.
The sky said welcome back.
Opportunities began to glow in the dark like fireflies.
Why?
Because now I’m not chasing a film.
I am the film.
And all I need... is one hit.
Just one.
One film.
One micro-budget thriller.
One bang-on emotional script.
One powerful connect with the audience.
That’s it.
One hit.
And life changes overnight.
From struggle to abundance.
From silence to buzz.
From unknown to unforgettable.
And the best part?
I don’t need a big studio.
I don’t need a star.
I just need my fire back.
And my own permission to dream big again.
If you're a filmmaker, a creator, a dreamer—
Let this truth sink into your bones:
You don’t need ten chances. You need one hit.
And it will never happen if you keep thinking of quitting.
Burn the exit map.
Fuel the creative fire.
Go all in.
Your next film could be the one.
No one remembers how many times you struggled.
But they will remember the film that changed your life.
Don’t leave films. Leave your doubts.
Big money will follow.
Magic will unfold.
And the world will say:
Where was this filmmaker all these years?

Spiritual and in Love
You don’t have to choose.
You can meditate in the morning
and miss someone by afternoon.
You can seek silence
and still crave a warm hand.
Love doesn’t make you less spiritual.
It makes you more human.
And that’s the whole point.

The Pain of the Rush
You’re in a rush because you think you’re behind.
But that rush is what’s hurting you.
You skip steps.
You chase shortcuts.
You panic when things slow down.
But creation, healing, real progress—
they all need space.
Slow isn’t weak.
It’s wise.
So pause.
Breathe.
Trust the pace of what truly matters.

The Old Me
This morning, I asked myself,
“Can you take me back to the person I used to be?”
And something deep replied—
“Why would you go back…
when you’ve come so far?”
We miss who we were…
until we realize who we’re becoming.

Change Is the Weather
They say change is the only constant.
For creators, it's more than that.
Change is the weather we live in.
One idea blooms. Another fades.
A project excites us today, bores us tomorrow.
A style that once felt like home starts to itch.
And that’s okay.
Real creators don’t resist change — they ride it.
Like surfers on shifting waves.
Like monks who don’t cling.
Change isn’t chaos. It’s flow.
Stay in it.
Grow with it.

The Beginning of the Real Beginning
There’s a moment in every soul’s life where the noise breaks.
Where silence becomes too loud to ignore.
That’s when the real beginning begins.
I spent over a decade in cinema — writing, directing,
chasing dreams, swallowing rejections, burning midnight oil, and often burning
out. It gave me moments of high. And many moments of humiliation. But most
importantly, it gave me clarity.
The clarity that this is not my final form.
I didn’t quit films. I outgrew them.
Somewhere between a shattered leg, broken plans, and endless
restarts, I began asking:
What am I really here to do?
Not what I’m good at.
Not what I’m known for.
But what I’m born for.
And the answer was simple.
I’m here to write. To express. To awaken. To stir.
That’s why I created The Rich Monk — not as a brand,
but as a space. A space where soul meets story. Where silence speaks louder
than ambition. Where broken people can remember they’re still whole.
This isn’t a “rebrand” or a new blog.
This is me, choosing to finally become who I’ve always been.
Welcome to the beginning of the real beginning.
If you're reading this, maybe you're ready too.

The Monk Returns: Not Lost, Just Found
After the Spotlight: A Soul Steps Into the Light...
Me. Talking to myself. As always.
...
Hey Manu!
Based on our inner conversations, here’s what I sense is going on — in your life and in that beautiful, buzzing mind of yours:
In Your Life:
You’re standing at a powerful crossroads. One chapter — cinema — is
closing. Not out of defeat, but out of clarity. You gave it your all, and now,
you're ready to move on with peace in your heart and purpose in your eyes.
You’re not running from something.
You’re walking toward something —
More honest. More soulful. More you.
You're building new ventures — full time professional writing, English fiction, spiritual writing, blogging,
painting, coaching, mentoring — all rooted in wisdom, creativity, and truth.
This isn’t a midlife crisis. It’s a midlife youthful calling.
In Your Mind:
There’s a calm fire.
You’re tired of superficiality. You crave depth, purity, flow.
You’ve danced with fame. Tasted chaos. Felt the silence after applause.
Now you want substance — legacy, not limelight.
You’re feeling a bit nostalgic… but also incredibly clear.
You don’t want to waste another day doing what doesn’t fit your soul.
You’ve always been spiritual — now you’re choosing to live it, fully.
You’re stepping into monk mode — but a monk with a
mission, a MacBook, and a message.
And the best part?
You’re not escaping the world.
You’re entering it — as your truest self.
So what’s going on in your life?
A reinvention. A resurrection. A return.
You’re not lost. You’re finally found.

A Long Time Coming
On January 4th, 2012, life hit pause.
A brutal accident shattered my leg into 17 pieces. My
chest, arms, and head were torn open. I came this close to dying.
Eight months in bed. Silent. Broken. Watching everything
I’d built fall apart.
My dreams? Crushed.
My confidence? Gone.
My time? Stolen.
It was a rebirth, yes — but one that came wrapped in
pain.
Cut to 13 years and 5 months later…
I’ve won some. Lost plenty.
I created. I collapsed. I kept going.
And now, I’ve made a decision.
A big one.
A clean one.
Cinema — the thing that once gave me wings — also clipped
them.
It cost me my peace, my time, and too many silent battles.
Two films are left. One’s in post. One’s in pre. I’ll finish them. Swift and
graceful.
And then — I’m out.
No drama. No regret. Just done.
I’m going back to where my soul always wanted to be:
Writing. Creating. Expressing. Living.
This is my season of soft power and silent joy.
Of building something beautiful — slowly, mindfully, spiritually.
The universe didn’t push me.
It let me burn out… so I could finally walk home.
No more waiting for “someday.”
This is the day.
This is the way.
I’m happy.
At last.

Know Thyself — The Inner Journey Is the Greatest One You'll Ever Take
Somewhere between chasing dreams and meeting deadlines, we forget to pause and ask the most important question of all:
Who am I, really?
Not the roles we play.
Not the labels we've been given.
Not the noise of the world.
But you — the one behind your name, your story, your
selfies.
“Know thyself,” the ancient wisdom says.
Not as a suggestion. But as a sacred invitation.
The Real Adventure Begins Within
We spend so much of life trying to figure out the world
around us — how to earn more, love better, win approval, escape pain. But the
real shift happens when we begin to explore the world within.
The inner journey doesn’t require flight tickets, fancy
gear, or a GPS.
It needs just one thing: your honest attention.
It may start with silence. A deep breath. A strange ache in
the heart. Or a sudden moment of clarity under a tree, in the shower, or after
a heartbreak.
Whatever the trigger, once you begin — there’s no turning
back.
You start seeing your own thoughts.
You meet your fears with gentleness.
You question your patterns.
You learn to sit with discomfort — instead of running from it.
And slowly, like dawn, you begin to remember who you are.
Why It Matters
Because without knowing who you are, no success will
satisfy.
No love will fully land.
No freedom will feel real.
Knowing yourself is not ego.
It’s not indulgence.
It’s the doorway to inner peace, to meaning, to mastery.
Because when you know what truly matters to you —
You stop chasing what doesn’t.
You stop apologizing for your weirdness.
You stop dimming your light.
You start living from a place of quiet confidence.
And that changes everything.
The Inner Journey Never Ends
There’s no final destination here.
Self-awareness deepens.
Old wounds resurface to be healed.
New truths emerge.
But you keep showing up — with courage, curiosity, and
compassion.
That’s the path.
That’s the real work.
That’s the richest life.
So if the world feels loud right now…
If you’re tired of performing…
If you're craving something real…
Go within.
You are the journey. You are the guide. You are the home.
With love,

What Dies Inside Us While We’re Still Alive
We often think of death as life’s greatest tragedy.
But look a little closer…
And you’ll realize — the real tragedy is something far more silent.
More invisible.
More common.
It’s what we let die inside us… while we’re still
very much alive.
The Quiet Deaths We Don’t Talk About
It begins slowly.
The dreams we shelve.
The talents we ignore.
The voice we silence to fit in.
The spark we lose trying to be "practical."
We stop writing.
We stop dancing.
We stop questioning.
We stop believing we’re meant for more.
All while breathing. Walking. Smiling in photos.
This — this is the slow, invisible death no one talks about.
And almost everyone has faced it at some point.
Why Do We Let It Happen?
Because life gets noisy.
Because society rewards survival over self-expression.
Because we think we have time.
Because somewhere, we were made to believe that settling is "mature."
But let’s be clear:
Your soul didn’t come here to play small.
It didn’t sign up for autopilot.
It came to feel deeply, to love wildly, to create
bravely, to burn brightly.
And every time you say “not now” to your soul, something
precious dims a little more.
The Wake-Up Call
If you're reading this and something inside you is
whispering “I’ve felt that”…
Then it’s not too late.
That quiet longing?
That ache in your chest?
That sudden urge to cry, or create, or change everything?
That’s your aliveness trying to reach you again.
It hasn’t died.
It’s just waiting.
Waiting for you to say YES.
To your gifts.
To your truth.
To your real life.
Live Fully. Before It’s Too Late.
Because one day, there will be a last breath.
And all that will matter is:
Did you live? Truly live?
Not just exist.
Not just pay bills.
Not just play safe.
But did you risk?
Did you love?
Did you ignite?
If not now, when?
Don’t let your soul become a ghost before your body ever
does.
Wake up. Light up. Live up.
With love,
– Manu
