కథ రాయడం కష్టం కాదు

అవును. కథరాయడం అంత కష్టమేం కాదు.

కాని, ఒక అత్యంత బాధాకరమైన టాపిక్‌తో 'సీరియస్ కథ' రాయడం మాత్రం చాలా కష్టం.

ఇష్టం ఉండదు.   

అదే, మన ఆలోచనలు, జ్ఞాపకాలు, ఊహలు, యుటోపియాలు, మానవసంబంధాల కథ అనుకో... తన్నుకొంటూవస్తుంది లోపల్నుంచి.

సింగిల్ సిట్టింగ్‌లోనే అయిపోతుంది కథ. 

సీరియస్ కథ మాత్రం అలా వాయిదా పడిపోతుంటుంది.  

ఆశ్చర్యం ఏంటంటే, ఈ రెండూ మన జీవితంలోంచి, మన అనుభవాల్లోంచి వచ్చేవే. 

మనిషికి స్వతహాగా బాధపడ్డం ఇష్టం ఉండదు. 

అదీ అసలు కథ.  

కట్ చేస్తే -

పాలపిట్ట మ్యాగజైన్ కోసం ఒక కథ రాయాలని ఎప్పుడో రెండు వారాల క్రితం అనుకున్నాను. జస్ట్ అలా మొదలెట్టి ఆపేశాను.  

"కథ పంపించు" అని ఇందాకా మా గుడిపాటి మెసేజ్ చూశాక గాని మళ్ళీ కదల్లేదు బండి. ఇప్పుడే పూర్తిచేశాను. పంపించేశాను.  

"పార్కిన్‌సన్స్ లా" నిజంగా నిజమే.

క్రౌడ్ ఫండింగ్ అంటే?

అమెరికాతో పాటు, ఇతర పాశ్చాత్య దేశాల్లో ఈమధ్య బాగా ప్రాచుర్యం పొందిన పదం - క్రౌడ్ ఫండింగ్.

ఎవరైనా ఏదయినా ప్రాజెక్ట్ ప్రారంభించడానికో, లేదంటే - ఆల్రెడీ ప్రారంభించిన ప్రాజెక్ట్ ని పూర్తి చేయడానికో అవసరమయిన డబ్బు లేనప్పుడు, చిన్నచిన్న మొత్తాల్లో ఎక్కువమంది నుంచి ఆ డబ్బు సేకరించడమే క్రౌడ్ ఫండింగ్. 

ఉదాహరణకు, సినిమా విషయమేతీసుకుందాం. 

ఒక ఇండిపెండెంట్ సినిమా తీయడానికి ఓ కోటిరూపాయలు కావాలనుకుంటే - ఆ మొత్తాన్ని ఒక నలుగురో, పది మందో ఇన్వెస్టర్స్ నుంచి వివిధ డినామినేషన్లలో సులభంగా సేకరించవచ్చు. ప్రతి డినామినేషన్లో, ఇన్వెస్టర్లకు తాయిలాలుంటాయి. అవికాకుండా, ప్రపోర్షనేట్‌గా లాభాల్లో వారికి షేర్ కూడా ఉంటుంది. ఎవరికీ పెద్దగా రిస్క్ ఉండదు.       

అంతర్జాతీయంగా బాగా ప్రాచుర్యం పొందిన ఈ ఫండ్ రైజింగ్ ప్రాసెస్ ని అమలు చేయటం కోసం కిక్ స్టార్టర్, ఇండీగోగో వంటి ఎన్నోవెబ్ సైట్లున్నాయి. వాటి కమిషన్ అవి తీసుకుంటాయి. ఒకసారి ఆ సైట్స్‌కు వెళితే ఎవరికయినా విషయం పూర్తిగా అర్థమైపోతుంది. 

కట్ చేస్తే -

ఒకప్పుడు 'ఇండీ సినిమా' (ఇండిపెండెంట్ సినిమా) అంటే ఒక యజ్ఞంలా జరిగేది. డబ్బే ప్రధాన సమస్య కాబట్టి, సినిమా పూర్తిచేయడానికి సంవత్సరాలు కూడా పట్టేది. గెరిల్లా ఫిలిం మేకింగ్, రెనగేడ్ ఫిలిం మేకింగ్, నో బడ్జెట్ ఫిలిం మేకింగ్ లాంటి ధోరణులన్నింటికీ నేపథ్యం ఇదే. సరిపోయేంత డబ్బు లేకపోయినా సినిమా తీయడం! 

అయితే ఇప్పుడా సమస్య లేదు, రెండు కారణాలవల్ల: 

ఒకటి - ఫిలిం మేకింగ్‌లో ఆధునికంగా వచ్చిన సాంకేతిక అభివృధ్ధి. 

రెండవది - క్రౌడ్ ఫండింగ్.    

ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా ఇప్పుడు చాలా ఇండీ సినిమాలు ఈ క్రౌడ్ ఫండింగ్ వెబ్‌సైట్స్ ద్వారా, లేదా ఆ వెబ్‌సైట్స్‌కి బయట ప్రత్యేకంగా ఇలాంటి పధ్ధతిని పాటించటం ద్వారా అనుకున్నంత బడ్జెట్‌ను సులభంగా సేకరించుకోగలుగుతున్నాయి. 

ఇదే పద్ధతిని రెగ్యులర్ కమర్షియల్ సినిమాల నిర్మాణం కోసం కూడా ఈజీగా అనుసరించవచ్చు. 

సినిమా నిర్మాణం పట్ల, సినిమా బిజినెస్ పట్ల అత్యంత ఆసక్తి ఉండి కూడా, ఎక్కువ మొత్తంలో పెట్టుబడి పెట్టడాన్ని రిస్కుగా భావించి తమ కోరికని అలా తొక్కిపెట్టి ఉంచేవారికి ఇది మంచి అవకాశం. ఎందుకంటే - ఎంత చిన్న పెట్టుబడితోనయినా వారు ఫిలిం ప్రొడక్షన్‌లోకి ప్రవేశించవచ్చు!  

మీలో గాని, మీకు తెలిసిన వారిలో గాని... తక్కువ ఇన్వెస్ట్‌మెంట్‌తో ఫిలిం ప్రొడక్షన్లోకి ఎంటర్ అవ్వాలన్న ఆసక్తి ఉన్న మైక్రో ఇన్వెస్టర్లు గాని, మీడియేటర్స్ గాని ఎవరైనా ఉన్నారా?

Time Is the Real Budget

I'm a movie director. My job isn't just to make films—it's to convince people to invest in a vision, and then ensure that every rupee of that investment is spent wisely.

As a director, one of my biggest responsibilities is deciding where time is invested, because in filmmaking, time is money.

People sometimes mistake that for being a control freak. It isn't. It's about accountability.

When you're responsible for keeping fifty-five people employed for six to ten months, every hour matters, every decision has a cost, and every delay affects the entire production.

A film isn't built only with creativity.

It's built with discipline, responsibility, and respect for time.

ప్రతి ఒక్క ఈలన్ మస్క్‌కూ ఓ మిలియన్ "సాకింగ్ సోదింగ్స్"లుంటారు.  

మధ్యలో ఈ సాకింగ్ సోదింగ్స్ ఎవరు?

ఏమో నాకూ అంత ఖచ్చితంగా తెలియదు. 

కాని, ఎన్నెన్నో సాధించాలనుకుని కలలు కంటూ, ఏదీ సాధించలేక, ప్రతి చిన్న అపజయానికీ కారణాలు వెతుక్కుంటూ, అధైర్యపడుతూ, అసంతృప్తిలో కూడా అట్టడుగు స్థాయిలో మిగిలిపోవడానికి ఇష్టపడే వాళ్లంతా 'సాకింగ్ సోదింగ్స్' లని నా ఉద్దేశ్యం.

లక్ష్యం ముఖ్యం.

అది గైడెడ్ మిసైల్‌లా ఉండాలి.  

ఊహించని అవాంతరాలు, ఊపిరి పీల్చుకోనీయని టెన్షన్లు వేధిస్తున్నా, వెంటాడుతున్నా దృష్టంతా లక్ష్యం మీదనే ఉండాలి. ఆ దిశలో పని చేసుకుంటూ ముందుకు వెళుతూనే ఉండాలి.

అలా చేయగలిగినపుడే అన్ని అవాంతరాలూ వాటంతటవే తొలగిపోతాయి. అన్ని టెన్షన్‌లూ కనుమరుగైపోతాయి. లక్ష్యం చేరుకోడానికి మార్గం దానంతట అదే సుగమమైపోతుంది. లక్ష్యం చేరుకుంటాము.

నాకిలా ఉంటే అది చేసేవాణ్ణి, అలా ఉంటే ఇది చేసేవాణ్ణి... వంటి కారణాలు ఉట్టి మూర్ఖత్వం.

పనికిమాలిన సాకులు, సోది. 

ఈ ప్రపంచంలో అన్నీ అనుకూలంగా, అనుకున్నట్టుగా ఉండే రోజు ఎవ్వరికీ ఎన్నటికీ రాదు. ఈ నిజాన్ని ఎంత త్వరగా గుర్తిస్తే అంత మంచిది.

ఈ అనంత విశ్వం, మన చుట్టూ కనిపిస్తున్న ఈ ప్రకృతి, మన జీవితం, జీవితంలోని సంఘటనలు, మన జయాలు, అపజయాలు, సుఖం, సంతోషం, కష్టాలు,నష్టాలు, వివాదాలు, అనుబంధాలు... అన్నీ ఒకే ఒక్క సింపుల్ సూత్రంపైన ఆధారపడి నడుస్తున్నాయి.

నో ఎజెండా ట్రిప్స్!

మొన్న నా మిత్రుడు నాని, నేను వైజాగ్ వెళ్ళినప్పుడు మేం ఒకటనుకున్నాం. 

ఇంకెప్పుడైనా ఏదైనా ట్రిప్ వేస్తే, "నో ఎజెండా ట్రిప్" వెయ్యాలని. 

ముందే ప్లాన్ చేసుకొని టికెట్స్ బుక్ చేసుకోడాలు, హోటళ్ళు బుక్ చేసుకోడాలు ఉండకూడదు. అనుకున్న క్షణం ఎలా అయితే అలా వెంటనే బయల్దేరాలి. అవసరమైతే బ్రేక్ జర్నీ చెయ్యాలి.  

ఎలాంటి ఖచ్చితమైన షెడ్యూల్ ఉండకూడదు. అక్కడికెళ్ళాక, ఆ క్షణం ఏది చెయ్యాలనుకుంటే అది చెయ్యాలి. ఎక్కడికెళ్ళాలనుకుంటే అక్కడికెళ్ళాలి.  

ఎన్నిరోజుల ప్రయాణమైనా సరే, రెండే రెండు స్పేర్ టీషర్టులు బ్యాక్‌ప్యాక్‌లో పెట్టుకోవాలి. అంతే. వేసుకున్న జీన్స్ ఒక్కటి చాలు. 

పెన్ను, చిన్న నోటింగ్ ప్యాడ్. 

జస్ట్ అంతే. 

మినిమలిజం. 

జీవితం ఒక్కటే.

ఉన్నన్నిరోజులు మాత్రం అనుకున్నది చెయ్యాలి. చెయ్యలేకపోతే పోనీ. స్ట్రెస్ వద్దు. టెన్షన్లు వద్దు. వీటి నుంచి దూరంగా ప్రయాణాలు చేసినప్పుడు అసలు ఎలాంటి ప్లానింగ్ వద్దు.

నో ఎజెండా.

ఆ క్షణం ఎలా అనుకుంటే అలా.

A Father's Quiet Pain

Many children don't fully understand their father until much later in life.

A father quietly spends years sacrificing his time, dreams, comfort, and often his own happiness so that his children can build a better future. He rarely speaks about those sacrifices. He simply keeps giving.

Yet, somewhere along the way, he may suddenly become the misunderstood one—the strict parent, the obstacle, or even the villain in the eyes of those he loves most.

Perhaps that's one of life's quiet ironies.

Beyond the Arithmetic of Relationships

ఇప్పుడు ఫిలిం మేకింగ్ టెక్నాలజీ పూర్తిగా మారిపోయింది. ఫిలిం మేకింగ్ శైలి, పద్ధతులు పూర్తిగా మారిపోయాయి.

స్క్రిప్ట్, డబ్బు రెడీ గా ఉంటే చాలు. కేవలం 90 రోజుల్లో ఒక మార్కెటేబుల్ సినిమాని పూర్తిచేసి, రిలీజ్ చేయగల సౌకర్యాలు వచ్చాయి. అలా చేస్తున్నారు కూడా. 

జస్ట్... ఒక సినిమా టైటిల్, పోస్టర్, టీజర్‌తోనే ప్రమోషన్, మార్కెటింగ్, బిజినెస్... అన్నీ చేసెయ్యగల మార్కెటింగ్ ట్రెండ్స్ వచ్చాయి.

ఇప్పుడు ఎవరైనా సరే, చిన్న బడ్జెట్లో, ఒక ఇండిపెండెంట్ సినిమా చేయొచ్చు. మనం క్రియేట్ చేసే మార్కెట్‌ను బట్టి థియేటర్స్‌లో, ఓటీటీల్లో రిలీజ్ చేయొచ్చు.  

సినిమా అనేది ఇప్పుడు ఒక క్రియేటివ్ బిజినెస్ మాత్రమే కాదు. పక్కా కార్పొరేట్ బిజినెస్.  

ఫిలిం ఆర్ట్ పైన, మార్కెట్ పైన, బిజినెస్ పైన కనీస అవగాహన ముఖ్యం. ఎప్పటికప్పుడు మార్కెట్ ట్రెండ్స్‌ను ఫాలో అవుతూవుండటం, కొత్త గ్యాప్స్ ఫిలప్ చేసుకుంటూవెళ్ళటం ముఖ్యం. 

ఇంకా చెప్పాలంటే... ఇప్పుడు హిట్టా, ఫట్టా అన్నది కూడా కాదు ముఖ్యం. హిట్ రేంజ్‌లో బజ్ క్రియేట్ చెయ్యటం ముఖ్యం. 

ఆట ముఖ్యం. 

ఆటలో ఉండటం ముఖ్యం. 

ఆటలో మజా ముఖ్యం. 

సినిమా జరుగుతున్న ప్రాసెస్‌లో, దీని చుట్టూ మన పనులు ఇంకెన్నో సులభంగా అవుతాయి. కొత్త కాంటాక్ట్స్, లీడ్స్ మనకు కనెక్ట్ అవుతాయి. రకరకాల రూపాల్లో మనీ మనల్ని ఫాలో అవుతుంది.

ఒక్క అమెజాన్‌లోనే, 2025లో, ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా సుమారు 300 మిలియన్ల ప్రింటెడ్ బుక్స్ సేలయ్యాయి. 

ఈ 300 మిలియన్ల పుస్తకాల్లో 50% పుస్తకాలు కొని చదివింది అమెరికన్ పాఠకులే కావడం మనం గమనించాల్సిన ముఖ్యమైన అంశం. 

'కిండిల్ బుక్స్' లాంటి డిజిటల్ బుక్స్, ఆడియో బుక్స్ అంకెలు వేరే. 

కట్ చేస్తే -

ప్రపంచపటంలోని అభివృద్ధి చెందిన ఏ దేశాన్నయినా తీసుకోండి. ఆ దేశ ప్రజలు, పాలకులు, కంపెనీల సీఈవోలు... ఖచ్చితంగా మంచి పాఠకులైవుంటారు. పుస్తకప్రియులైవుంటారు. వీళ్ళల్లో చాలామంది రైటర్స్ కూడా ఉంటారు. 'న్యూయార్క్ టైమ్స్ బెస్ట్ సెల్లర్' స్థాయిలో మంచి మంచి పుస్తకాలు రాసివుంటారు. 

పుస్తకాలు చదవటం అనే అలవాటు మనిషిలోని విజువలైజేషన్ పవర్‌ను ఎప్పటికప్పుడు పెంపొందిస్తుంది. పాఠకుల్లో ఒక స్థాయి క్రమశిక్షణకు మూల కారణమవుతుంది. ఈ రెండూ ఉన్నప్పుడే ఎవరైనా ఏ ఫీల్డులోనైనా ఎదగగలుగుతారు. 

వ్యక్తుల ఉన్నతస్థాయి ఎదుగుదల, పరోక్షంగా వారి దేశ ఉన్నతికి ఉపయోగపడుతుంది.     

మనమెక్కడున్నాం మరి? 

యూట్యూబ్ కనిపెట్టిన అమెరికన్స్ కంటే ఎక్కువగా మనదేశంలోని వ్యూయర్సే ఆ వీడియోల్ని పనీపాటా పక్కనపెట్టి ఎగబడి చూస్తున్నారు. యూట్యూబ్ ద్వారా వారికి భారీ ఆదాయం రావడానికి కారణమవుతున్నారు. 

యూట్యూబ్ వీడియోలు చూడటం తప్పు కాదు.
ఏం చూస్తున్నామన్నది పాయింట్. 

యూట్యూబ్‌లోని వీడియోలు చూడ్దానికి అలవాటుపడటం ద్వారా... పరోక్షంగా మనలోని ఆలోచనా శక్తిని, ఊహాశక్తిని, విశ్లేషణాశక్తిని, విజువలైజేషన్ పవర్‌ను ఊహించని స్థాయిలో కోల్పోతున్నాం. 

పుస్తకాలే కాదు, అసలు ఇంక దేన్నయినా సరే, చదివే అలవాటునే పూర్తిగా మర్చిపోతున్నాం.  

 

ఇది నిజం కాదా?

మనలో ఎంతమంది పెన్ను, పేపర్ పట్టుకొని గత 24 గంటల్లో ఏదైనా రాశారు? అసలు మనలో ఎంతమంది ఏదైనా ఒక పుస్తకం పట్టుకొని ఎన్నిరోజులైంది?

"ఇప్పుడంతా డిజిటల్ యుగం, పుస్తకాలు అవుట్‌డేటెడ్" అనే ముందు, ఈ పోస్టు ప్రారంభంలో నేను రాసిన అమెరికా ఉదాహరణ ఇంకోసారి చదవండి. 

మన దేశంలో పబ్లిషింగ్ వ్యవస్థ ప్రపంచస్థాయి ప్రమాణాల్లో ఎందుకు లేదు?... మన దేశంలో 99.99% రచయితలు ఎందుకు రాయటం ద్వారా సంపాదించుకోలేరు?... ప్రొఫెషనల్ రైటర్స్‌గా ఎందుకు బ్రతకలేరు?... 

ఇలాంటి కొన్ని ప్రశ్నలకు సమాధానం కూడా ఒక్కటే. 

మనం పుస్తకాలు చదవటం లేదు.

చెప్పి చేస్తేనే మజా!

ఏదైనా సాధించాలకునేవారు రెండు రకాలుగా ఉంటారు. 

> బయటికి ఏం చెప్పకుండా, సీక్రెట్‌గా ఒక వ్యూహం ప్రకారం పనులు చేసుకుంటూ అనుకున్నది సాధించేవాళ్ళు.

> నేను ఇది సాధించాలనుకుంటున్నాను అని ఓపెన్‌గా బయటికి చెప్పి మరీ సాధించేవాళ్ళు.

మొదటిరకం వాళ్ళది "ఎందుకొచ్చిన ప్రెషర్... ఎవరేమనుకుంటారో... ఏం కామెంట్ చేస్తారో" అన్న భయం. 

రెండోరకం వాళ్లది "బయటికి ప్రకటిస్తే గాని మనకు ప్రెషర్ ఉండదు. ఆ ప్రెషర్ ఇచ్చే డ్రైవ్‌తోనే ఇంకా బాగా కమిటెడ్‌గా పనిచేస్తాం" అన్న భావన.

అనుకున్నది సాధించే విషయంలో, ఇద్దరికీ 50/50 చాన్సెసే ఉంటాయి. కాని, ఓపెన్‌గా చెప్పి మరీ కష్టపడేవారికి కొంచెం ఎడ్జ్ ఉంటుంది.
